I was born in a traditional Buddhist family.  But I had celebrated Christmas since I was a child through my third ‘Gu Gu’ (aunt) who is a Christian. She had always invited us for Christmas gathering and each of the children would always receive a present from her.

I came to know more about Christ only during my secondary school days through the organization Singapore Youth for Christ (YFC).  It was also through them that I accepted Christ too.

But my faith was not firm. I started to drift away from God.  As I had to work late on Saturdays to pay for most of my school expenses, and the mission of YFC was to share the gospel with friends around me, this put me in a stressful position.  I felt that I had not known God well and yet I had to share the gospel.  As a result, I stopped going for Bible Study and church service.

In the year 2005, I had to go with Derick to France for his 2 years overseas posting.  In the first year, I kept asking myself why was it that I agreed to come to this place where I could not adapt to the weather.  The food also did not suit me.  At that time, I was pregnant.  Furthermore, Derick was out-station during the weekdays and I had no friends.  I really disliked intensely being there.

After I gave birth to Cloris, I got to know Jenny.  She encouraged me to join them for church service after she knew that I had accepted Christ earlier in my school days.  I started to go back to God’s house, hear the word of the Lord.  I started to understand Him more.

I started to get involved in church activities.  I was involved in the 1st Christmas Evangelical Party (which became a yearly affair), preparatory work for service and Children Sunday Class.  Then, I started to understand why God put me in a country where neither the weather nor food was best for me.  He wanted me to go back to Him and to bring Christ into Derick’s and Cloris’ lives.
