God is Faithful

Life is full of uncertainties in health, jobs, relationships, economy and political stability. With the uncertainties, come much anxiety. The CoViD-19 pandemic has had devastating impact on lives and livelihood on a global scale. Nearer home, the impact of the pandemic on air travel has reduced the normal bustle in Changi Airport to deathly silence during the circuit breaker. CoViD-19 has significantly impacted aviation and tourism-related sectors, retail and food services, resulting in loss of jobs in these sectors. We thank God we have an Almighty and a compassionate God who can see us through life’s uncertainties and the devastating impact CoViD-19 has brought to the world. We can depend on God’s power and faithfulness, which endures forever. Psalm 117:2:

For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord.

We know the power of God when we see His creation. The vast universe, solar system, our earth and all living things declare the glory of God. We know God’s faithfulness when we see His providence for us. He makes the sun rise and set every evening. Contrary to God’s faithfulness, people may change, friendship may change, and even relationships may change. We thank God we have a God who changes not. Psalm 102:25-27:

In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.

God has given us His written word, the Bible. In the Bible, we can learn about this God and ourselves. Our origin and our destiny. God has given us precious promises to see us through great uncertainties in our life. What God requires from us is to exercise faith in the promises in His Word: “God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change his mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfil?” (Numbers 23:19). God in His word has given us promises that can help us live through life with all the uncertainties!

Our God is not only powerful, He is also more than willing to help us. In times of trouble, we know we have a God who is more than able and willing to help us. As a response, all that God requires of us is to have faith—a faith to believe in our God, that He is powerful and is compassionate, full of grace and mercy. Jesus once rebuked his disciples for their lack of faith in Him while sailing through a storm. Matthew 8:26 reads,

He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.”

When we encounter trouble and crisis in life, let us have faith to believe we have a powerful and an all-loving God who can help us through our times of great need. Let us continue with our daily bible devotion, attend weekly worship faithfully, in giving, faithful to attend fellowship and faithful in serving. Let us remain faithful to our faithful God. By doing these, our faithful God can see us through life’s uncertainties and the devastating impact CoViD-19 has brought to the world.
