Ministries in TOLCC
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship … For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them” (Rom 12:1-6)
“To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good” (1 Cor 12:7).
It is a joy and privilege to serve God with the gifts God has given to every Christian that God’s people may grow spiritually. Let us give our Lord the best and serve Him with clean hands and hearts. We encourage every Christian to serve your Lord according to your giftedness.
Adult Sunday School
“So Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could understand what they heard” (Neh 8:2).
“And Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that they had made for the purpose … Also Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, the Levites, helped the people to understand the Law, while the people remained in their places. They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading” (Neh 8:4, 7-8).
“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, (Eph 4:11-13).
God has given to some people the gift and responsibility to teach God’s Word so that “both men and women and all who could understand” can understand His Word and grow in faith and knowledge to become more like our Lord Jesus Christ.
The present Adult Sunday School is divided into three groups: a group comprising the elderly people, a Chinese speaking group and an English speaking group. Every year, we will study an Old Testament book and a New Testament book. During several weeks in a year, we also have special studies, e.g. selected theological topics, other faiths, contemporary issues, etc. The Adult Sunday School, besides helping believers to understand God’s Word and truths, strives to teach Christians the skills of interpreting the Bible and to equip believers that they may engage the world in a meaningful way, that they may be the light and salt of the earth. We learn not only through interaction between teachers and students, but also as students share how they appropriate God’s Word in their lives. It is a also a time when we fellowship with one another.
