“But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell. They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats” (Psalm 115:4-7).
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else” (Acts 17:24-25).
Although I doubted, I continued to worship idols. When my second daughter believed in the Lord, she invited me several times to attend worship service. On one occasion, the Holy Spirit moved me and I received the Lord Jesus as my personal Saviour. I did not, however, continue to go to church to know the Lord better. I had always thought it was enough for me to simply believe in my heart. I did not feel the need to know the Lord better, attend worship service, read the Bible, and pursue life change or Christian fellowship.
I thank the Lord for bringing Pastor Andrew Tan to visit me. He invited me to attend the church he was pasturing. In Tree of Life Christian Church, I got to know the Lord better. I now know that it is needful for me to draw close to the Lord, attend worship service, read the Bible and pray every day, and to maintain a healthy Christian fellowship. In this way, my life can change that I may please God. Previously, I was self-willed and often refused to give way. When I argued with a colleague, I would persist in arguing. Now, however, with the Lord’s help, I seldom quarrel with my colleagues. I thank the Lord for helping me become a testimony for the Lord that I may glorify the Lord’s Name.
I thank the Lord for giving me salvation and that “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Gal 2:20).
