I come from a non-Christian family.  Therefore, I had always resisted Christian preaching because I felt that they were very annoying.  I had always thought that the only person whom I could trust was myself.  My wife Meizhen, however, is a Christian.  As a result, we often had lots of argument on issues related to religion.

In 2005, I was posted to France to work.  Cloris was born the following year.  Meizhen and I quarrelled even more — We quarrelled over Cloris and other matters.  Later, Jenny encouraged Meizhen to go to the church in France.  During that period, I would drive her there and wait for her in church while I took care of Cloris.  I paid attention to the preaching by the pastor there and the songs they sang.  I could feel peace and joy in everyone’s heart, including mine.  I even sang along.

When I switched jobs from the Air Force to ST Aerospace in 2007, it was stressful during that time.  As I was alone for two months, I started to read during the bible that Meizhen gave me.  I learned that I am a sinner and how God loves us: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).  I also learned about how Jesus sacrificed His life for our sins. From then on, I knew that all the things that I had encountered were nothing compared to Jesus’.  I started to be more cheerful and forgiving towards people and events.

When Meizhen came to join me in France in July 2007, I decided to accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour.  With the help of the Lord, I put away many bad habits.  I feel that my whole life has turned from bad to good.  Lord, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105).

I thank Robin and Jenny for bringing Meizhen back to God so that I could also have the chance to know God.  I also thank Pastor Andrew and Pastor Barry (in France) for teaching us diligently and for helping me understand the almightiness and love of Jesus that I may fear God and become a person who obeys His Word.  I thank God for loving me and my family during all this time and in the future.
