For the next long period of 35 years, I worked, went overseas, got married and gave birth to a son and I returned to Singapore in 1996. During this time period, I studied Buddhism to find the real meaning in life. My question and desire were not answered and fulfilled. In these recent few years, my life went through many upheavals and changes: My child was disobedient, my marriage was on the verge of a breakdown, my family relationships turned sour and my father fell ill and had a stroke. I was also unwell physically. Just when I was struggling and when I felt that I was about to collapse, my brother and sister-in-law who were Christians and my good friend Yi En, were there to comfort and encourage me. They prayed for my salvation and asked the Lord to help me.
As I thought about the past, that although I left church for so many years and wandered aimlessly in the world, the Lord Jesus never left me. He is like a kind father who had been waiting for me. He forgave my rebelliousness and accepted me once again. I also finally understood that only God’s love does not change. I was once a lost sheep. I was stubborn and proud and chose to wander in the world. Thanks be to the Lord! I was once lost and now I have found the road home. God did not only not rebuke me, He also gave me a precious gift—the salvation of my stubborn father. Before my father passed away, the Holy Spirit moved him and he finally received the salvation of the Lord Jesus and has been called home into the kingdom of heaven.
Upon returning home, I thank the Lord for putting me under the pastoral care of Tree of Life Christian Church. Here, brothers and sisters in the Lord love each other and do not scheme against one another. Everyone served the Lord whole-heartedly. In order that I might make a serious confession of my faith, I requested Pastor Tan to baptize me again that church members as a body may be a witness as I make a clear confession of my steadfast faith. I pray and hope in the Lord that He will strengthen my faith, that I may walk steadfastly in the way of the Lord and that I may live a righteous life and be a testimony for the Lord.
