My name is Karen Lai.  I am a mother of three.  I worked night shift for many years.  We used to have an idol statue “Goddess of Mercy” at home because my husband’s family members are Buddhists.  As for myself, I was not a devoted believer.  I also did not know why I worshipped the idol for so many years.  Two of my children are Christians.  For many years, they tried to introduce me to Christianity.  They bought me Christian books, CDs and invited me and my husband to church services.  I was not convinced, however, nor did I feel anything about Jesus Christ at that time.

My younger sister Wendy and her family have been Christians for many years.  Recently, my elder sister, Sally also started going to church.  They too often tried to get me to church.  Five years ago, Sally asked me to attend church.  I told her: “I don’t feel the urge or desire to go church.  Furthermore, I’m very tired from working.  Well, if one day I stop working, I will go.”  Surprisingly, I quitted my job last year.  So I think it’s God’s timing for me!  Hence I decided to go to church.

After attending church service for a few months, I feel that I’m much happier and less agitated.  I also seem to have a better peace of mind.  I see life in a better perspective now.  I’m thankful to my loved ones who had planted the gospel seed in me.  After so many years, the harvest finally came!  I have put down my pride and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour.  He has been good to me.  I hope that my husband would come and taste the goodness of our Lord soon.
