I lead an active lifestyle – doing household chores daily, taking care of my grandson, helping others to wash and tailor clothes for a living, spending my weekend shopping and playing mahjong with my friends. Now that I am older, I am no longer that nimble. Ten years ago, my legs started to weaken and since then, it has been hurting. I can only stay at home to rest and watch television, with nothing much to do.
I have attended Sunday Worship before but I have never accepted Christ. Last year, my daughter, Sally invited Pastor Andrew and the Evergreen Green Fellowship to visit, pray and share the gospel with me. Initially, I had my doubts and could not accept the gospel because I did not feel God Almighty’s love. I thought that death was the end of everything and there was nothing more to it.
One day, my legs were constantly in pain all day and night. I could not endure it any longer. I cried out, “God, please save me.” Miraculously, from that day on, my legs stopped hurting for a month. It was from that moment, my heart was slowly moved by the Holy Spirit and I accepted Christ.
After much encouragement from the Evergreen Fellowship, I started attending Tree of Life Christian Church in October this year. I thank the Evergreen Fellowship for their care and concern, and Pastor Andrew for praying and sharing the gospel with me. He would specially visit me every Thursday to teach me and tell me that God the Creator of this world loved a sinner like me. This strengthened my faith and I learned about the love of our Heavenly Father, Christ’s forgiveness, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the significance of the Lord’s Supper, eternity, heaven, peace and joy. Now I believe in Christ and I have received salvation. I listen to God’s word – the Bible every day because I am illiterate and my vision is poor. Thank God for giving me heaven, eternity, peace and joy. The Holy Spirit has led me to baptism.
“For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” (John 3:16-18)
“But what does it say? ‘The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,’ that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, ‘Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.” (Romans 10:8-11)
