In my youth, my father was harassed by different triad gangs.  Doing business was difficult.  I thought I might as well join them as in so doing, not only would the gangs stop harassing us, I could also receive their protection.  I grew up in such a messy environment.  Later, I also started taking drugs.  At the age of 20, I entered a drug rehabilitation centre.  Back then, those who were willing to be educated could be exempted from hard labour at the rehabilitation centre.  For that reason, I told them that I wanted to study.  It was during this period that I was introduced to the gospel.  While studying at the rehabilitation centre, they would arrange for a pastor to share Christianity with all the students.  Since then, Christianity has left a deep impression in my life.  I learnt about a great God and He is a God whom we can trust. My temper improved tremendously after that.

My life has changed ever since I left the rehabilitation centre.  I distanced myself from other friends who abused drugs and turned over a new leaf.  I did not, however, continue to understand more about the gospel.  It was only in the year 2010 when Sister Choon Lian invited me to Tree of Life Christian Church.  Initially, I only participated occasionally in some church activities and did not consider staying long term in this church.  My obstacles were work commitment and fear of my family’s opposition.  But after attending the Basic Bible Class, I understood the gospel better and I was willing to accept the Lord Jesus as my personal Saviour.

After believing in Christ, when handling matters and in relating to people, I was less impulsive, and more level headed and friendlier towards people. I am also willing to learn more about God’s Word, and attend worship and prayer meetings regularly.  Currently, I am cutting down on smoking.  In taking the step of baptism, I resolve to seek spiritual growth and to follow the Lord faithfully.
